UT Physicians Opens Facial Plastic Surgery Clinic in Southwest Houston
Southwest Houston’s growing population has prompted UT Physicians to open a new Facial Plastic Surgery Clinic at at the corner of Beltway 8 and Bellaire Boulevard.
“W
e want our services to be more accessible to people in the suburbs, including the Southwest Houston community’s large population of Asian Americans, who have cultural, language and healthcare needs that differ from other segments of the community,” says Tang Ho, MD, MSc, an assistant professor in the Department of Otorhinolaryngology-Head and Neck Surgery at The University of Texas Health Science Center at Houston (UTHealth) Medical School and a facial plastic and reconstructive surgeon at Memorial Hermann-Texas Medical Center.
Dr. Ho is fluent in Mandarin Chinese. “The patients I see are able to communicate their needs in their own language without the presence of an interpreter, which creates a greater sense of trust for patients and for their family members,” he says. “The quality of communication during a medical visit affects many things, including medical compliance. When patients have a greater understanding of how to care for themselves after surgery or clinic procedures, compliance and outcomes improve. This is another step toward making the care we provide even more patient centered.”
Dr. Ho’s clinical interests include both aesthetic and reconstructive surgeries of the face, including facial rejuvenation procedures, rhinoplasty, facial reanimation procedures for patients with paralysis and reconstructive surgery of skin cancer defects. He currently sees patients at the Facial Plastic Surgery Clinic twice a month.
