Otorhinolaryngologists Named to Best Doctors in America List

Martin J. Citardi, MD

Martin Citardi, MD, FACS, and Samer Fakhri, MD, FACS, FRCS(C), core members of the Texas Sinus Institute and Texas Skull Base Physicians, have been named to the 2011 Best Doctors in America® list, which includes the nation’s most respected specialists and outstanding primary care physicians. The list represents the top 5 percent of doctors in the United States selected from among more than 46,000 physicians in over 400 specialties and subspecialties.

Dr. Citardi, who is chair and professor of the Department of Otorhinolaryngology-Head and Neck Surgery at The University of Texas Health Science Center at Houston (UTHealth) Medical School and chief of otorhinolaryngology-head and neck surgery at Memorial Hermann-Texas Medical Center has been named to the list every year since 2005.  Dr. Fakhri, an associate professor and residency program director in the department, joins him on the list this year.

Samer Fakhri, MD

Best Doctors in America is the result of more than two decades of work conducting the largest continuous independent survey of the medical profession, which mimics the informal peer-to-peer process doctors use to identify the right specialists for their patients.  Polling and balloting software are used to gather the insight and experience of tens of thousands of leading specialists across the country.  Credentials and specific areas of expertise are confirmed by researchers.

According to the Best Doctors web site, “These are the doctors that other doctors recognize as the best in their fields.”  Physicians may not nominate or vote for themselves and do not pay a fee to be listed.
